We took a trip to Escalante with Bryan's family. We stayed in a nice house/cabin for the four days we were there. This is the first day. I don't think we'd been there for more than 30 minutes and Bryan had already brought out the potato canons that he built previous to the trip.
The next day we headed to Bryce Canyon. We had Bryan's brother in the car with us. The drive was about an hour. For the first 30 minutes we heard lots of squeals of laughter and playing. The last 30 minutes............Thanks Uncle Scott for tiring out my children.
In Bryce we went on the Navajo/Sunset Peak trail.
That night we went shooting at an abandoned outdoor shooting range.
This is Megan's first time shooting. All the other times we've gone shooting she hasn't cared to do it, but this time she was excited for it.
The next day we went to the Lower Calf Creek trail. This was about a 3 mile one way hike into the canyon to a waterfall.
The water was very cold. However, no one cared.............
After playing in the water and the sand, we headed back out. Some of our bladders had to hurry so we got ahead of the group. Some of us took a little nap while we waited for the rest of the group.
Our last full day in Escalante we went down the Hole in the Rock trail. Unfortunately, the trail was washed out and so we were unable to go as far as we would like. We did make it to some slot canyons. They were very muddy and some had waist high water in it. On our way out we stopped at Devil's Garden and had lunch. Due to the water, Bryan was able to find some mud puddles on the road and got the truck extremely dirty. I believe this is the dirtiest he has ever been able to get it on a trip. Unfortunately, the pictures I took of the truck are for some reason not around. With this new camera that I have, some pictures don't actually take and I don't know about it until I try to do something with it.
That night we drove up Hell's Backbone. It's a narrow bridge with a 1000 foot drop off on both sides.
What a great way to end the summer!
